A Peek Into the Future

Liz, the program director, on the games that stay, the watermelon race she means to win, and why camp is the best time of the year.

Two people lean over a table to eat watermelon slices with their faces while a crowd of campers watches.

Liz wrote this in the winter before the 2017 camp season, when she was the program director.

Hey guys, Liz here. So, I know camp is still 200 and some days away but I'm still pretty pumped for the 2017 camp season. It's getting cold outside and the days are getting short, and it makes camp feel like a distant memory. I've been knitting a lot of hats to try to keep my friends warm in the upcoming winter but I really miss the sun. Camp is the best time of the year.

I cannot wait to get started planning for camp. A lot of old favorites are here to stay; Gaga, Manhunt, and Color Wars are not going anywhere. I loved the relay race during Color Wars. Side note: last year at Camp Setebaid at Mount Luther, I ate half a watermelon at the end of the relay race for the green team. Unfortunately, I came in second to Dr. Chris, but what he doesn't know is I've been practicing and I'm totally ready to wolf one down way faster this year. Shh! Don't tell him.

As Program Director, I'm thinking a Tri-Rocks Tournament might be in order. Let's face it, you guys love Rocks, and I love it too. I've got some updates to theme days, and a whole bunch of ideas to go with some tricks up my sleeve. I might be a little over excited for this season. I hope you guys are too. See you at camp!
