Get involved

Every kid at camp is here because someone helped.

Give, volunteer, raise money, or tell one family about camp. Pick the way that fits what you can give: money, a week, a few hours, or your voice.

Pick your way

Six ways to help

Donors cover most of the cost, so families pay far less than the full cost. Every way below helps a kid get to camp. Pick the one that fits you.

What fits what you can give

  1. Three smiling campers stand close together in the woods on a sunny day.

    Give once or monthly

Give as a guest in Camp Brain, in under two minutes, and choose a fund. No account needed.

    Donate
  2. A volunteer in gloves tends to a camper's scraped knee while other campers watch.

    Volunteer at camp

Spend camp week in July as a counselor, nurse, doctor or dietitian. If you have diabetes too, you are the person these kids look up to.

  3. A young man plays cornhole on a gravel path at camp.

    Join or support an event

Come to a Setebaid fundraiser, bring your friends, or help at the event.

    See campaigns and fundraisers
  4. Two women laugh and flex their arms while holding slices of watermelon at camp.

    Run your own fundraiser

A birthday, a school collection, a walk with friends. We give you a story, a photo and the fund to name. See how it works below.

    Email the office
  5. Children and adults gather outside a wooden hall at camp.

    Sponsor camp or an event

Your company makes an event or a camp week possible, and is thanked at the event and on its page. See how it works below.

    Call the office
  6. Three young women in orange camp t-shirts talk outside a wooden building.

    Spread the word

Tell one family about camp. We give you the story, the text message and the cards. See how it works below.

Help in your own way

  1. Run your own fundraiser

    • Ask friends to give for your birthday, hold a collection at school or at your club, or walk with your family and collect pledges.

    • The office sends you a short camp story, a photo and the name of the fund to use. Every dollar goes to the Campership Fund unless you choose another fund (Setebaid to confirm).

    • Which tool to use, for example a Facebook fundraiser or a Camp Brain page, is up to Setebaid (Setebaid to confirm). Tell us your idea and we help you set it up.

    Email the office
  2. Sponsor camp or an event

    • Sponsors make an event or a camp week possible.

    • Your company is thanked at the event and on the event page. Sponsor levels are set for each event (Setebaid to confirm).

    • Call the office or email us, and we send you what this year's events need.

    Call the office
  3. Spread the word

    • A parent's or a volunteer's word is what a worried parent trusts most. Most families never share, because nobody asks them. We are asking.

    • Ask for the share kit: a camper story, a ready-made text message and "bring a friend" cards (Setebaid to confirm).

    • You get your own link or QR code, so Setebaid knows which families you brought, and a thank-you when a family comes to camp (Setebaid to confirm).

    • Parents of past campers: new parents want to hear from someone who has been through it. Tell us if a nervous parent may call you (Setebaid to confirm).

    Email the office
  4. Help in the office or on a committee

    • A few hours a month, from home or in Winfield. Committees and work groups are volunteers, and you need no diabetes experience (Setebaid to confirm).

    • A volunteer board sets the policies and the budget. See who is on it and how Setebaid is run.

    Board and governance
  5. Alumni: stay part of the family

    • Attending a Setebaid camp makes you part of our family. Many alumni come back as counselors.

    • Keep your details current so you hear about reunions and alumni events (Setebaid to confirm). Email the office with your name, your camp and the years you came.

    • Follow Setebaid on Facebook and Instagram to see what camp is up to.

In their words

Why people come back

Everyone that volunteers at this camp wants to be there. Everyone puts 110% towards the campers placed with them.

Former CITCounselor-in-training

Once I entered the camp, I always felt like I could do more… learn from my mistakes, raise the bar on my behavior, and be more independent. I would not be half the person I am today without the leadership exemplified and coached by the amazing people I met at Setebaid’s camps.

It takes a village to raise a child. When you have a child with diabetes, consider diabetes camp as part of your village.

Beth S.Parent and camp counselor

The camp staff was accepting, encouraging, and fun. The one week away from home gave her such a boost.
